A study into the effect of the periods of the distillation process upon the yield quality of cajeput oil from the leaf of cajeput tree (Melaleuca leucadendron L)

The periods of the distilling process applied to Cajeput Tree leaf has a marked effect on the quality on the oil produced. This research shows that the longer the oil is distilled, the smaller the Cineol content; 72,5 after one hour and only 47,0 after six hours. Hoever specific grafity, refractive index and optical rotation values increase as time parses; readings were 0,912; 1,470 and -1.38 centigrades respectively after one hour, rising to 0.916; 1.486 and -6.80 centigrades after six hours.
