Competitiveness of some rice varieties to weeds
1983
Suardi, D. (Balai Penelitian Tanaman Pangan, Bogor (Indonesia)) | Pane, H.
Experiments were conducted at Pusakanegara experimental farm (West Java, Indonesia), in 1982 planting season, by applying a split plot design to evaluate competitiveness of three rice varieties, i.e., IR 36, Cipunegara and Kreung Aceh (main plots). These were subjected to four treatments, viz. (1) handweeded twice; (2) sprayed with herbicides; (3) sprayed with Hidrasil growth regulator and handweeded once, or (4) untreated (control). Cipunegara variety competed better with weeds than IR 36 and Kreung Aceh. Milled rice weight was significantly correlated with leaf area index, 1000 grain weight, panicle dry weight, and weight of short weeds (Cyperus iria, C. difformis, and Monochoria vaginalis).
