Effect of storage condition on the content of metabolites and the viability of cocoa seeds II. Storage at several levels of relative humidities
1986
Toruan, N. (Balai Penelitian Perkebunan Bogor (Indonesia))
Cacao seeds of DR2 clone stored in a room at a relative humidity of 35 percents, 75 percents and 100 percents respectively, showed a decreased fat content and an increased fatty acid and sugar content. The highest level on membrane leakage and alcohol content were obtained from seeds stored at 35 percents Rh. At the three levels of Rh, protein and amino acid content increased with increasing of storage period. A high germination percentage (98.33 percents) during 50 days storage could be maintained by storing the seeds at 100 percents Rh. Storage at 35 percents Rh caused seeds viability decrease to 20 percents during 50 days.
