Infection of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), Beauveria bassiana, and Metarhizium anisopliae to egg, larval and pupal stages of the Asian corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis, was studied. Two fungal pathogens were infective to all three stages, while Bt is only pathogenic to the larval stage. Evaluation of efficacy of three entomopathogens to the corn borer on sweet corn was undertaken in a screen house. Both Bt preparations and B. bassiana cultured on wine derivatives and mixed with sand to form granules at 2 x 10(8) conidia/g were as effective as carbofuran in screen house tests
