Pirimiphos-Methyl (PM) is registered in Germany to be used as grain protectant against pest insects. It is applied by spraying upon the grain on the conveyor belt. This study describes as new approach to use PM as a fog which penetrates through the surface layer of stored grain in granaries. First results indicate the efficacy of this method against the saw-toothed grain beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis L.) and the granary weevil (Sitophilus granarius L.) on the surface. Residues and decay rates of PM were determined. The method has to be modified to control insects down to 30 cm depth
