In normal muscle tissue the fibres of two histochemical types (1, 2) and subtypes (2A, 2B, 2C) are distributed at random. Within muscle fascicles of pigs the muscle fibres are divided at random or they are grouped by the same enzymatic activity. The normalized proportions are the best measure for analysing the muscle fibre types (1, 2A, 2B, 2C) and their arrangement in layers within fascicles. Using this method, we found muscle fibres type I and 2A in first layer within fascicles in m. longissimus dorsi of pigs. We are not certain whether this muscle fibres are progeny of secondary or tertiary myotubes
