Of the data the following essential conclusions can be. There is a considerable difference between the varieties tested, regarding the grain yield and the yield of total digestible nutrients (TDN). For estimating the hull content or the content of crude fiber and the TDN, particular sieve fractions led to a closer correlation than the test weight or the thousand kernel weight; the reason for the better suitability of certain sieve fractions may be, that the change of the regression trend below or above 2.2 mm, can be established. To find out the sieve fraction without a correlation with the TDN, further studies have been initiated. The correlations between the hull content and the content of crude fiber were not allways significant; a reason for these interactions may be based in a various content of crude fiber in the hull, e.g., a dry hot weather, especially during the cornfilling period, may be responsible.
