Relationship between testicular weight and fatness in short scrotum lambs [sheep]
1990
Hopkins, D.L. (Tasmanian Dept. of Primary Industry, Kings Meadows (Australia))
Testes weight of 139 short scrotum lambs showed considerable variation, ranging from 33 to 161.5 g. Both the GR measurement (an indicator of carcass fatness) and carcass weight also showed variation ranging from 3-20 mm and 10.2-26 kg respectively. There was no association between GR and testes weight, suggesting that protein and lipid metabolism (reflected by the measurement of fatness) is apparently not strongly related to the amount of testicular parenchyma per se (indicated by testes weight).
