1987
Harris, D.G. (Western Australian Dept. of Agriculture, Perth. Div. of Animal Health) (comp.)
A guide for the husbandry and welfare of the domestic fowl. The basic requirement for welfare of poultry is a husbandry system appropriate to their physiological and behavioural needs. The basis needs of fowls are: readily accessible food and water to maintain health and vigour; freedom of movement to stand stretch and lie down; visual contact with other fowls; accommodation which provides protection from the weather and which neither harms nor causes distress; and rapid identification and treatment of lice, injury and disease.
