An assessment of the domestic and international outlook for Australia. Assesses the situation and performance of growers of canning fruit and of the processing sector, and reviews the assistance currently afforded the industry and its influence on prices and resource movements. Three alternative reforms of provisions of the Canned Fruits Marketing Act are suggested: the removal of export pooling; formula pricing for the domestic market; deregulation of domestic and export marketing.
