Epidemiological studies about the population dynamics of fungal pathogens in wheat crop systems in connection with the use of fungicides resulted in definitions of thresholds. The pathogen specific thresholds were proofed for several years, and summarized in a conception of an integrated system of pest-management in wheat crops ("IPS Weizenmodell Bayern"). The system was evaluated over years with variations in cultivars, nitrogen fertilization and sowing dates. The advantages of the model were evident by comparison with other variants, the use resulted in an optimal integration of plant protection measures. Basis of the system is the accurate qualitative and quantitative diagnosis of the pathogens with a special frame, the cereal diagnostic system by Verreet/Hoffmann. Exceeding the DGF project the decision model was introduced to the advisory system in Bavaria with success. In cooperation with a greater number of farm leaders (1991 = 87 farms) the acceptance was high and the results encourage for a successful introduction into wheat crop systems in generally
