Chromium mordanted fibre was used as markets to estimate the rate of food passage in the lesser Malaysia mousedeer (Tragulus javanicus). The marker first appeared after 8 h in the faeces of animals fed with lundai (Sapium baccatum) and after h in the faeces of animals fed with a commercial pellet. The mean retention time (MRT) of food particles, estimated using chromium mordanted fibre in animals fed with lundai (48.3 + 1.6 h) was two times longer than for animals fed with pellets (24.9 + 0.6 h)
