540 Arbor Acres male broilers were employed to evaluate the effects of 5 levels of niacinamide (NIC) (0; 37.5; 75; 112.5 and 150 mg/kg) on performances and meat quality. Population density was 0.04 mq/bird. After 24 and 40 d from the beginning of the trial, high dietary NIC (150 mg/kg) improved live weight by 6.8% (P0.5) and 2.4% (P0.1) vs control diet respectively. Blood parameter and fatty acid composition of intramuscular fat were not modified; only myristic acid at the end of the trial was 17.1% (P0.1) lower than control diet with 75-112.5 and 150 mg/kg NIC. Meat analysis showed at 40 d of age higher moisture content (+6.2%; P0.1) vs control diet in 75-112.5 and 150 mg/kg treated NIC diets, while fat content was 22.8 (P0.1) lower than control with 112.5 and 150 mg/kg. 150 mg/kg of NIC reduced meat cholesterol level (-28.2%; P0.1), while 75 mg/kg of NIC increased it (+44%; P0.1)
