The analytical techniques combining capillary gas chromatography separations with the selective methods of sample preparation and with the selective spectroscopic detection methods of chromatographic eluates, including mass selective detector, infrared detector and atomic emission detector, are presented as the most modern analytical procedures for the organic pollutants analysis. The new analytical methods based on combined techniques described above were developed. They enable to replace existing time consuming and complex analytical methods, which are usually not positive in the identification and not enough precise in the quantification. The possibilities of these new analytical methods are illustrated on the examples of analysis of volatile organic compounds, petrochemical hydrocarbons, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, triazines, elemental sulphur, and analysis of polychlorinated ketons and esthers, as the contaminants in water and soil.
