Simulated latitudinal effects on flowering and seed production of Stylosanthes guianensis selections
1987
Trongkongsin, K. | Humphreys, L.R. (Queensland Univ., St Lucia (Australia). Dept. of Agriculture)
Glasshouse trials showed the length of phase to floral initiation and the node number were negatively related to simulated latitude over 4-28 deg, and similar at 28 and 35 deg. Inflorescence density and floret number per inflorescence were reduced at 4 deg and highest seed production occurred at 28 deg. For optimum seed production from these long-short day selections, high latitude sites are favoured having a sufficiently warm winter for seed setting
