Evaluation of a latex agglutination test for the diagnosis of infection with Dirofilaria immitis [heartworm] in dogs

The commercial test kit was simple to use and rapid. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy for 32 dogs with adult infections were 68.8, 89.7 and 83.0 percent respectively. False negative results mostly occurred in dogs with very small numbers of worms.
