The most common fuels used by the industry are wood off-cuts and slabbing. Sawdust and other particulate wood residues, generated as a by-product in considerable amounts are usually considered a waste material and pose a disposal problem. This book describes the development work on the combustion of sawdust in a multi-chambered brick-built furnace with a nominal thermal output of 800 kW. The furnace is designed to be built using local materials and craft skills.
