Varietal improvement works for upland rice in Nepal

International Upland Rice Observation Nursery, International Upland Rice Yield Nursery, Initial Evaluation Trial, Co-ordinated Varietal Trial and Pre-release Varietal Trial were conducted at rice research center Parwanipur in 1994. Co-ordinated varietal trial was conducted at PAS, NAS and SAS also. Among 12 entries 3 varieties namely RP 1888-4259-1529-126, BR 21 (6656-22-4), and RP 2425-48-22-4 were found promising. The yield data of NAS were low due to drought. At PAS mean yield was significantly different among the entries whereas at NAS and SAS the differences were non-significant.
