Pulses significantly substitute animal proteins. Production potential of legumes has not been fully exploited because of low level of technology used. Losses on legume during traditional harvesting, drying, processing and storage are significant due to shuttering, poor drying and insect infestation and moulds. Applied technology can be improved on the farm to reduce losses, human drudgery and improve quality of products. The manual presents technical systems developments for small farms based on the knowledge from developments and testing work in the sub-region. Literature survey with evaluation of traditional techniques. The technologies are described with merits and demerits. Target users are subject matter specialists in postharvest systems and methods, extension workers and advisers on grain storage, manufacturers of equipments
