Harvesting costs on farm
1995
Medved, M. (Forestry Inst. of Slovenia, Ljubljana (Slovenia))
In the days of socialist economy with a high rate of inflation and unrealistically low interest rates, the purchase of equipment did not present such a problem as today when market economy is being introduced. Because forest properties and farms are, on average, relatively small, machinery is inadequately utilized. Characteristics of (ir)rational utilization of equipment are dealt with, and the time required for full depreciation of tractors in farms of different size with regard to production scale of farming and forestry is presented. The paper is also concerned with analysis of machine costs and utilization level of equipment used for the following harvesting operations: cutting, skidding, and transport
