Bean germplasm collection, evaluation and utilization in Uganda

A review of bean introduction in the country is given. Germplasm acquisition is through direct collections, requested for introductions and samples acquired from agricultural extension staff. Evaluation, mainly in form of nurseries is concentrated on disease and pest resistance, and yield. Landraces were utilized in crosses both locally and at CIAT. Germplasm samples are given to scientists from different disciplines for furthuer evaluation
