Results from two-year-long investigations (1987-1988) concerning the quantity and quality of potato yield are presented in the article. As a source of irrigation were used residual and subsoil waters purifield in the Sofia purifying station (SPWS). The results showed that the mean yield was as follows: 1. irrigated with subsoil waters - 3335 kg/dka; 2. irrigated with residual purified water by SPWS- 3777 kg/dka. A respective increase in yield of 46,2 and 65,6 as compared to the control was registered. It was found that the quality of production met the requirements of the Bulgarian standards regarding the main biogenic elements. Concerning the heavy metals however, an enhanced content of the permitted highest concentrations (PHC) of zink and iron was found. At the present stage it has been recommended to use the production in feeding domestic animals.
