Weight and body condition score at calving and levels of feed intake related to anestrus post-partus period of dairy cows in Grati, East Java (Indonesia)

This study was carried out to determine the ideal of body weight and body condition score at calving of dairy cows in the village condition and smallholder farmers in Grati-East Java, in order to obtain the optimum of anestrus post-partus. Sixty-one dairy cows in the village condition and smallholder farmers in Grati, East Java which were selected at random have been recorded on their body weight and body condition score at calving, feed intake over first 90 days of lactation, and the long period of anestrus post-partus. The data were analysed by using regression and correlation analysis method. Result of this study showed that the body weight and body condition at calving were not significantly relation with and not influence on the long period of anestrus post-partus if the dairy cows in Grati consumed crude protein in a arange 50 percent to 115 percent of NRC recommendation

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk memperoleh batasan berat badan dan skor kondisi tubuh saat beranak yang ideal bagi sapi perah guna menjamin diperolehnya lama periode anestrus post-partus yang optimal dalam kondisi usaha peternakan sapi perah rakyat di daerah Grati-Jawa Timur, melalui analisis hubungan antara variabel-variabel tersebut dalam dua kelompok sapi berdasarkan tingkat konsumsi protein kasar dan energi selama 90 hari pertama pasca beranak. Enam puluh satu ekor sapi perah milik peternak di daerah kecamatan Grati, Pasuruan telah dipilih secara acak untuk dicatat berat badan dan skor kondisi tubuh saat beranak, tingkat konsumsi selama 90 hari pertama pasca beranak serta lama periode anestrus post-partus. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi dan korelasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan, bahwa kondisi berat badan dan skor kondisi tubuh saat beranak tidak berhubungan dan berpengaruh secara nyata terhadap lama periode anestrus post-partus manakala sapi-sapi perah induk di Grati mempunyai tingkat konsumsi protein kasar selama 90 hari pertama pasca beranak berkisar 50 persen sampai dengan 115 persen dari rekomendasi NRC
