Edaphogeomorphologic homogeneity in two sample areas. River Castan basin, Trujillo state, Venezuela

Matherano, J. | Jaimes, E.
The study of the space variability of the edaphogeomorphologic attributes, constitutes an important requisite to know the geographic boundaries in which fluctuate such characters, between and/or within a given cartographic unit. Therefore, the space variation of the mapping units is expressed by means of a defined patron, that will be complex or uniform according to the grade of edaphogeomorphologic homogeneity that those exhibit. The work was centered in the evaluation of the multiple homogeneity of two sample areas located in the Castan river basin, previously characterized by Mendoza (1992). It was used the Index of Multivaried Homogeneity (IMH), defined by Jaimes (1988) and it was applied the calculation procedure abstracted by Jaimes and Elizalde (1991). The obtained results allowed to prove that the Ortiz area is more heterogeneous than the area located in the low part of the basin (IPU). However, in the sample area of the IPU only one of the outlined systems in it is more homogeneous than any of the mapped systems in the Ortiz area. On the other hand, considering only edaphic attributes more or greater soil homogeneity than the IPU area inclusively greater homogeneity than the cartographic mapped units in such area
