Many of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) seedlings raised in nurseries suffer from growth disturbance. Examination of frequency of growth disturbances in several forest nurseries showed that growth distortion is a common feature in one-year-old and two-yeard-old seedlings. Frequency of the growth disturbances can be influenced by seed origin and growth conditions on the bed. Fertilization, especially using fertilizers with high content of nitrogen, stimulated considerably summer growth of proleptic shoots.
