Ten F2/F3 populations generated from the crosses of three exotic lentil lines (Lens culinaris Medik. E-l53, E-258 and Precoz) and four Indian cultivars (Pant L-406, Pant L-234, K-75 and Ranjan) were evaluated under timely- and late-sown conditions. The frequency of transgressive segregants for earliness was observed. Ranjan H K-75 was the best cross for timely-sown conditions, and Precoz H Pant L-406 was the best cross for late-sowing
