The segregation of iron-deficiency chlorosis in lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) was studied to determine inheritance of the trait. Six crosses each between susceptible and resistant pure-line varieties were studied. All the F1 plants were resistant, while F2 populations segregated into resistant and susceptible plants. The data were subjected to chi-square test which fitted a three resistant to one chlorotic ratio. This clearly indicated that the resistance was dominant and controlled by a single gene (Fe). Pedigree method of breeding to develop resistant varieties and back-crossing for improving the existing varieties lacking resistance is recommended
