Morphological evaluation of dairy cow. Image analysis and official methodology

Inglés. The research concerned the differences between the data obtained by the official linear evaluation and those achieved with computerised image analysis. The two methods were tested on Holsten Friesian dairy cows and were statistically compared after the identification of the Standard Deviation Unit (SDU). Results confirm the limits of the system presently used, due to the evaluator subjectivity. According to the data, the official values assigned to the animals were often different from the real measures. Moreover, different official values were observed among animals from which were collected the same measures, and consequently the same real values, with respect to the biological variability

I due metodi sono stati provati su bovine da latte Holstein Friesian e sono stati confrontati statisticamente dopo l'identificazione dell'unita' di deviazione standard (SDU). I risultati confermano i limiti del sistema utilizzato attualmente, a causa della soggettivita' del valutatore.
