1997
Verkhivker, Ya.H.
The method of coating seeds is developed providing saving energy and high quality of seed materials. It includes isolating seed mass, for example, tomato seeds, washing the seeds from covers and flesh, preliminary drying in the air (40-45 deg C) up to the decrease in moisture content by 35 %. The final drying is performed in two stages. At the first stage a coating layer from a moisture absorbing mixture is put on seed surface. For firm fixing of the coating layer the seed mass is moisturized by passing through a water curtain (the drop diameter is 0.03-0.05 mm). At the the second stage the seeds are dried on a vibrocreen (vibration frequencies 10-12 Hrz) in a hot air flow (40-45 deg C). After drying they are exposed at the temperature up to moisture content 1-14 %, cooled to ambient temperature, packed into multilayer paper bags and sent for storing. The method is recommended for using at enterprises for producing certified and elite seeds
