Vegetative multiplication of Cupressus Dupreziana A. camus by softwood cutting, grafting and attempts of in vitro propagation on the Tassili n' Ajjers (Algeria)
1997
Dalichaouch, N.
This present study was carried out in order to investigate some aspects of different vegetative propagation methods on Cupressus dupreziana A. Camus, such as rooting of cuttings, grafting and in vitro propagation. Softwood cuttings from 15 years old trees growing at Djanet's town were used for rooting under different concentrations: 8,000 ppm IBA and two month extension (from 4 to 6 months) of the rooting period affected significantly the rooting. Grafting seems a good way to propagate the Tassilian cypress. The cleft and side grafting methods applied onto C. sempervirens rootstock (1 year old) did not show any difference between them. Shoot explants taken from succeeded grafted plants, were cultivated in vitro on LP medium supplied with different concentrations of BA. The highest shoot elongation was achieved when the medium was supplemented with 0.5 mg/1 of BA while 0.1 mg/1 BA was the best concentration for the multiplication rate.
