1998
The GREMPA (Groupe de Recherches et d'Etudes Mediterraneennes Pour l'Amandier-pistachier) was created in 1971 and supported by the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza of the CIHEAM. The objective of this group is to promote information exchange and joint research work of Mediterranean researchers on the almond and the pistachio. The support given by CIHEAM to the activities of GREMPA is done within the framework of the FAO-CIHEAM Network on Nuts. The X Seminar of GREMPA, held in Meknes, Morocco, from 14 to 17 October 1996, has given rise to the publication of these proceedings. The seminar was divided into six sessions: physiology and biology; orchard management; description; taxonomy, germplasm and pomology; propagation; breeding and behaviour: varieties and rootstocks; posters. The seminar, organized by the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique of Morocco (INRAM) in Meknes with the collaboration of the FAO-CIHEAM Network on Nuts was attended by 31 participants coming from Mediterranean countries and from international organizations. During the seminar 52 research works were presented, and very interesting discussions were held on most aspects scientifically relevant for almond and pistachio cultivation.
