Necrosis of barley grains, the germination and fungi isolated from grains
1999
Prokinova, E. (Ceska Zemedelska Univ., Prague-Suchdol (Czech Republic))
The assessment of the percent of barley grain with disease symptoms from various growth places were done throughout 1993 to 1997 years. The main symptom was black-point, dark necrosis, black moulds and Fusarium moulds, deformations of grains. The occurrence of fungi was compared among places of the grains origin. The differences were not statistically important, except the genus Fusarium in 1994 and 1996, Epicoccum purpurascens in 1994 and Alternaria tenuissima in 1994. It was validated that the species of the genus Alternaria and Bipolaris sorokiniana play a big role in the occurrence of black-point symptom. Fungi of the genus Alternaria dominated at the higher rainfall, B. sorokiniana prefered drier weather. Neither Alternaria spp., nor B. sorokiniana affected the germination of barley grains.
