Genetic diversity of tareh Irani (Allium ampeloprasum ssp. persicum based on morphological characters

Tareh Irani (Allium ampeloprasum ssp. persicum) is a leaf Allium widely grown in Iran which is used in raw and cooked form. Its diversity has not been studied adequately. This study was conducted to determine the genetic diversity and find suitable germplasm to be used crop improvement. In 1997 a total of 71 local population which had been collected in different parts of Iran and stored in the genebank were sown. In the first year, vegetative characters and in the second year, the reproductive characters were evaluated. The germplasm accessions were classified and identifitd according to characters.
