Montia perfoliata (Claytonia perfoliata) - possibilities of cultivation

Due to a high price of energy some greenhouses are heated in winter only up to 5 deg C and for that reason they can be used for cultivation of a modest leafy vegetable corn salad. Recently, some growers abroad started to cultivate winter purslane as an alternative. However, this crop is completely unknown in the Czech Republic. This paper reviews literary data about its growing technology and presents preliminary results of leaf analyses carried out at the Faculty of Horticulture in Lednice.
