Data on the diet of three owl species (Tyto alba, Strix aluco and Asio otus) are presented for the area around the Mounts Cimini and Vicani (Province of Viterbo, Latium, central Italy) are presented. The diets of these three Strigiformes consisted almost entirely of small mammals, whereas birds represented a smaller portion (6 %). Results from previous studies on local small mammal communities were employed to investigate prey availability in the field. A. otus and T. alba seemed to forage more in cultivated areas, whereas S. aluco was less selective in the choice of hunting habitat.
