Prevention and treatment of leg diseases in dairy cows
2000
Soukup, L.
Breeding of local dairy cattle for high milk production and imports of Holstein cattle have considerably inreased the incidence of leg diseases in dairy cows. Favourable effects, manifested as pain control and complete healing with full restoration of milk production and without any milk withdrawal periods were achieved by combination of systemic and topical treatment. Repeated administration was necessary in only 12 (10.25 %) of the 117 treated cows. Four cows had to be emergency slaughtered and one was culled.
