Effect of the index of preceding precipitation on the estimation of potential retention capacity of catchment area

Toman, F. (Mendelova Zemedelska a Lesnicka Univ., Brno (Czech Republic))
The runoff for a catchment area is determined above all by the amount of precipitation and the retention capacity of catchment area. Potential retention of catchment area is dependent on hydrological properties of soils, soil humidity estimated on the base of a 5-day sum of preceding precipitation), land use, vegetation cover (canopy), tillage and application of antierosion measures. The occurrence of daily sums of precipitation above 30 mm in individual months of the layer were estimated. Finally, variants of the effect of the index of preceding precipitation on the potential retention capacity of the catchment area were calculated for comparison.
