Big baler operation was tested at harvesting of green forage pre-wilted to 54.9-63.9% moisture content as well as some hay and straw of 14.9 and 22.9% m.c., respectively. Baler working pressure was 1.5-6 MPa, the forward speed 0.5-1.2 m/s. The haylage from pre-wilted green crop produced in a clamp with plastic cover, contained the amounts of basic nutrients and energy value comparable to fresh material, irrespective of baling pressure. The valuation of haylage showed its high quality, satisfactory contents of lactic and acetic acids at no butyric acid at all, well preserved plant structure and pH 4.6
