The survival and migration possibilities of enteroviruses in three types of soil of Kujawy region were investigated. Two strains of enteroviruses: poliovirus strain Lsc2ab and bovine enterovirus strain LCR-4 were used in the experiments. Physico-chemical analysis of soil was made and among other things: soil texture, soil pore-size distribution, cation exchange capacity, organic matter content were determined. Enterovirus survival rate in each soil layer fertilized with organic sewage, and also in water, municipal wastes and slurry at the temperatures of 4 deg C and 20 deg C was studied. The extent of enteroviruses penetration into soil columns (under laboratory conditions) and under field conditions was estimated
