Influence of sewage water on nitrogen content in poplar and willow

The studies were conducted in the years 1997-98 with the aim to evaluate the influence of sewage water on N-NH4, N-NO3 and total nitrogen content in poplar (Populus alba L.) and two willow species (Salix americana L., Salix viminalis L.) and in the soil in which these plants were cultivated. In all tested plants the total N content, N-NH4 and N-NO3 increased only in the period of intensive plant growth in July. Irrigation with sewage water did not influence the concentration of nitrogen in the soil
