Performance of vegetable type of soybean genotypes in the western hills of Nepal
2000
R.L. Shrestha (Agriculture Research Station, Lumle (Nepal))
Co-ordinated varietal trials of vegetable type of soybean with ten genotypes were conducted to identify the suitable genotypes for the mid hills of Nepal, at three locations namely, ARS Lumle, AER site Chhahara and Maduwa during March 1999. Genotype AGS-292 matured earlier than the other tested genotypes. Among the tested genotypes, AGS-352 produced the highest marketable fresh pod yield followed by AFS-355 and AGS-351. Yield of marketable fresh pod, varied from 1.0 t/ha to 7.1 t/ha. Days to first picking also significantly differed among the genotypes from 52 days to 68 days, where as 100-grain weight showed the non-significant difference. The study shows that, the genotypes AGS-292 was earlier in maturity and could be grown two times in a year for vegetable purpose. Genotypes AGS-352, AGS-355 and AGS-351 were high yielder which could be grown in two seasons in a year.
