Jaoued, M.
For the purpose of introducing Vitex agnus castus and Lavandula stoechas as new native ornamental plants in the Mediterranean zone we investigated in the former its flowering and growth behaviour in response to daminozide and chlormequat application at three different concentrations, 500, 1500 and 2500 ppm and two rates of application, once and twice, and to three different environmental conditions, outdoor, cold greenhouse and shaded frame; while for the latter we studied its propagation by carrying out an examination of its seed germination at seven constant temperatures: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 degree C and under periodical light/dark conditions and continuous darkness. For Vitex agnus castus, the daminozide and chlormequat were effective in manipulating the vegetative growth with superiority in the latter, greater effects were evident at higher concentrations, and repeated applications at lower concentrations was more effective than single application at higher concentrations.
