Growth and gas exchange were analysed in three climber species Vitis riparia, Fallopia aubertii and Hedera helix grown on four main expositions in Warsaw downtown and suburbs. All studied climbers displayed the same growth ability and photosynthetic intensity in both investigated regions. Hedera helix proved to be best adapted to growing in the centre of the town. Big settlemental plasticity of studied climbers predistinates them to play an important role in the towns of tall buildings. The complex method used to investigation is adequate to evaluate the effect of urban conditions upon the solid climbers
