Increased production of high-quality Norway spruce - vision or aim
2000
OlischlSger, K.
Pruning of Norway spruce is a means of enhancing productivity. The average prices of normal timber versus trees pruned long ago in Hesse are compared. Included for practical use is a value matrix. The idea is to show the aspects of pruning. If the diameter of the knotty core is one-third of the timber when harvested, the knot-free volume is theoretically about 89% of the pruned log. A product line "pruned Norway spruce" should be the target.
