Yielding, floristic changes and the nutritive value of four phenologically different meadow mixtures on peat-moorsch soil

Yielding, nutritive value and the persistence of components of four phenologically different meadow mixtures (an early, moderately early, moderately late and late) on peat-moorsh soil were studied in the years 1989-94. Selecting species and their varieties upon their earliness allowed to harvest the I cut in two weeks providing a valuable and efficient fodder. The earliness of a mixture did not affect annual yields and total protein yields, it modified, however, the yielding distribution and percentage content of protein and crude fiber in the sward of particular cuts. Yielding of the earlier mixtures was more uniform throughout the vegetative season
