The aim of the study was to determine the effects of isopentyl alcohol and adenine and benzyloadenine applied together with Azotobacter sp. inoculation on field bean yield and chemical composition as well as on soil microbial activity. The results showed that the most efficient yield bearing cytokinine precursor was adenine. In both experimental series the compounds studied increased the number of organotrophic bacteria and Azotobacter sp. and stimulated activity of soil urease and dehydrogenases
