Field experiment with papilionaceae-grass mixtures against the background of diversified N fertilization was carried out. Chemical analyses were done on plant material to assay its organic content. With standard method were assayed the contents of crude protein, crude fibre, crude fat and N free extracts. N fertilization at the rate of 150 kg/ha induced an increase percentage of grasses in the mixtures, which had great effect on the chemical composition. The content of crude protein decreased by ca. 0.3 percent accompanied by increased crude fibre by 0.6 percent compared with non fertilized mean. The protein content varied also depending on percentage of components in the mixture. A higher content of protein was found in mixtures where clover should constitute 70 percent. Lowering sowing rates of papiloneceous plant caused a drop in protein content by ca. 1 percent. The percent of crude fibre showed reversed relationships
