The influence of sowing date and seeding density on morphological traits, yield and its components of winter wheat were studied in a micro-plot experiment conducted in 1995-98 on medium-heavy soil. Wheat was seeded on 10 Sep., 25 Sep. (first day for optimum time of sowing), 10 Oct. (last day for optimum time of sowing). The second factor of the experiment was seeding density (the number of viable grains per sq. m): 250, 450 and 650. The highest yield was obtained with the date of seeding wheat on 10 Sep. and 250 wheat grains/sq. m. The number of grains per ear, 1000 grain weight and thus high yield per ear were the primary components contributed to the highest wheat yield. Early sowing date increased grain yield, number of grains per ear, 1000 grain weight and weight of grain per head, but a more dense seedings decreased the agronomic trats
