The lambs of both sex, deriving from crossing of prolific Wielkopolska sheep with White-headed mutton rams or Dorset-type rams were examined. Lambs were fattened till 100 days of age and then, slaughter value and meat quality were analysed. In general, crossing the dam-line ewes with both mutton type rams did not improve the slaughter value of crossbred lambs. The positive effect of Dorset-type rams was observed in the case of coluor and intramuscular fat content in the meat of crossbred lambs but the negative effect concerned the flavour and the aroma of the meat
