Red-, fallow- and roe deer hunting and forest regeneration
2001
Kelm, H.J.
A 1000 hectares deciduous forest with large game hunting grounds containing red-, fallow- and roe deer in the eastern part of Lower Saxony for example shows how by doubling the shooting of these three species the biting of young trees and bushes could distinctively be reduced. 80% of deciduous forest grow without fences or single protection and natural growth is developing in many parts. - Besides positive consequences for the ecosystem of the forest there have been realized financial reductions up to DM 100 per hectare a year.
